Fast Blu Ray Ripper?

Maybe this has been covered somewhere, but after about an hour of searching, I have come up with nothing.

What I would like to know is what Blu Ray drives offer the fastest ripping speeds? I see plenty of info regarding writing, which I won’t be needing since my rips will stay on my HD. Just really looking to find the quickest drive to rip a Blu Ray.

Thanks for your help.

You do know that a lot of Blu-ray disks are over 30 gigs right? Just how fast do you want … lol

My LG took a little while to rip to drive but wasn’t that long. Only tried one movie so far and it was 37 gigs. Need to find smaller movie.

Good luck

Yes. I am aware of the average size of a blu ray movie, which is why I would like to use the most efficient method to rip them.

HD storage space is not an issue on my end.

Thanks Platinumword, I think I’ve got the software portion figured out.

I was looking more for advice on hardware. To be specific I was looking for advice on a drive that will perform the rip the quickest.

@tarheel23, the fastest Blu-ray ripper is currently Panasonic SW-5584. You can also get the SW-5584 OEM in other brands namely Buffalo BR-816FBS, and Sony BWU-300S. They are 8x P-CAV reader and will read full 50GB in about 27 mins (compare to LG at max 4.8x in about 55 mins).

I’ll give it a try and see how some of them work. I want to figure out how to rip my BR’s and stream them to my PS3.
