Failed burns with 001 DVD+R Mitsumi media

Hey guys, I’m kind of new to the DVD Burning scene. I seem to be having problems burning…

Here’s what I’ve done:

  • flashed to Harrie’s 2k5107v2b5dl FW
  • Loaded Nero 6.3.1.17 Ultra
  • Put in my DVD-R media to record
  • First tried 8x (optimistic lol), failed
  • next tried 4x, which also failed

The media type is 4x, brand is Mitsumi (not sure if this is real, or rebranded)

This is what DVDInfoPro spits out:

Region information N/A not a DVD-VIDEO
Media code/Manufacturer ID 001
Media Product Revision Number 00h
Free Blocks 405405696
Free Capacity 4.38GB(4.70GB)
Book Type DVD+R
Media Type DVD+R
Media Id Code Speed Unknown
Available Write Descriptor CLV 8.0x 11080KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 5.9x 8112KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 4.0x 5540KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 2.4x 3324KBps
Linear Density Blank Disc

Number of Layers 1

Any help would be appreciated to help me figure out what could be wrong here. Thanks in advance.

Where and how did your burn fail? Details please.
Try to record on a rewritable DVD first so you don’t end up with a bunch of coasters.

or post the Nero log file.

Good idea  Here’s the failed 4x Burn:

Unfortunately, I only have R+ discs, so I made 2 coasters already lol.

Seem like you don’t have dma enabled. Try to enable dma

Hmm… not sure how… I use nvidia nforce 2, so the controller only shows up as nvidia nforce ide controller (not primary/secondary like usual). Plus, it detects my drive as scsi drives (this is a known issue though, and I’ve never had a problem with it)

So yeah, can anyone tell me how to verify that? Thanks.

Straight out of my troubleshooting guide that says READ FIRST at the top of the forum:

Do I have to though? I like the nvidia IDE drivers lol.

But I’ll take your advice and do it when I get home from work.

So did anyone with nforce2 chipset using nvidia’s IDE drivers have problems? I’m still at work, can’t try anything until I get home. I don’t want to make any more coasters :frowning:

why?

if you search you will find that quite a few have… and quite a few solved their problems by uninstalling them.

that is why WESOCIETY put that in the FAQ.

I see.

Well, I changed it to Windows’ IDE, and it burned at 4x without a hitch. My LG Combo drive can read the disc, but the 2500A seems to be having trouble lol. Good thing I bought it for it’s writing abilities

Thanks for all your help guys. Next disc, I’ll try 8x.
