I recently purchased a LG sonoma laptop with a 17 inch widescreen display code number LW70 4LQA.
Included is the DVDRW drive (TSST corp TS L632B) anyone know what the capabilities of the so called Super multi DVDRW drive are ?
A link to specs somewhere would be nice. I have searched with goole for hours and can find no reference anywhere

Hi Guys and Gals
more info this time from Nero Infotool
LG notebooks using a TSST DVD writer…
I didn’t know LG was selling 17-inch LCD notebooks.
I believe this drive has LG firmware in it and may even be called an LG drive
but windows XP says it is a TSST corp TS L632B
maybe LG are using these as OEM drives ???
check this out:
for everyone else as well more pictures
this time from a chinese auction website
still no info available from Samsung or Toshiba or TSST website
but the units are out there and being offered for sale
both individually and installed in laptops already
made in china
Thank you ZRG
for finding this link which gives the information I have been looking for
Greetings from ‘Down Under’ folks. Does anyone know how to unlock the region codes on this drive? I have purchased a Toshiba Satellite and would like to be able make the drive multizone.
try DVD43 from www.dvd43.com
I have a TS-L632B drive in my Acer 4402WLMi, it reads CD-ROM’s just fine however it will not recognize most of my DVD’s, DVD-R’s and says my DVD+R’s are CD-R’s. Does anyone know where I can find firmware for this drive (to include what firmware is on there right now?). I have tried Samsung, Toshiba and TSST websites but no luck there.
Hello there; I have the same setup as yourself. I’d suggest you inspect the bundled software, looking for “NTI DVD maker ver. 7.0.0”. I’ve had success copying from HD to a DVDRW without any problem, but native XP Pro. driver doesn’t seem to work, similar results as yourself. I’m wondering if the drive would also run trouble free under Nero or Roxio software. I do have Roxio “Easy media creator Ver. 8” but haven’t installed it yet on the Acer. Will get a change by next weekend.
Does anyone have the acer version of L632B firmware? I need the version TI30 bin file or newer. Thanks.
I looking for it too. Can anyone help?
Hi Guys and Gals
It is particularly interesting that all the versions of firmware seen so far end with the digits 30
for example either LG30 or TS30 or TI30 etc
I believe the first two characters represent the company name of the notebook the unit is mounted in
say LG30 for drive in LG laptop
or TS30 for drive in Toshiba laptop
or TI30 for texas instruments laptop
but the firmware is the same in every case
as there have never been any updates to the original firmware
there has never been a need to provide a link to it
only the dangerous brothers might provide a firmware at RPC1
if enough people ask for it, but i think that unlikely as there are not many
people with this drive
