EUROPEAN - Three-strikes copyright rule!

Back-room dealings in the European Parliament have resulted in a “three strikes” rule being included in a new telecoms bill – the rule would force ISPs to kick people who’ve been thrice accused of copyright infringement off the Internet.

Look at the last post in this thread: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f83/uk-isp-bows-record-industry-send-p2p-warning-letters-246311/

At least one ISP (which has to be the one I use  ) has already started that caper.

So, unless I’m reading it wrong, they’re not required to actually prove copyright infringement before cutting you off?

permanently block after 3 times for life?

that sounds extreme.

Reading some older bloggs on that site, I wouldn’t trust them to much.

What I can understand is that it’s just some adding/suggesting from that Brittish MP to add it to a committee bill. It still has to be voted in the parliament and ratified by all the EU countries.

Looked in some Swedish articles and it seems that all Swedish MPs in the EU parliament are against a three strike rule. The French President seems to be the one that supports it most heavily.

So does the German Chancellor.
