The European Commission has fined Facebook 110 million for providing misleading information about the acquisition of WhatsApp. The social network purchased the popular messaging app in 2014.

For Facebook, that’s mere chump change. I’m sure they’re going to make billions off of WhatsApp, ad for that they get fined a mere $122 million. What’s to stop them from doing something else? Nothing.

This is why we need to stop fining big corporations all together. If they break the law, they should go to jail, period. That’s what happens to every law-breaker who isn’t ultra-rich. Until we start jailing CEOs, they WILL continue to ignore the law.
