Hi All, Great forum by the way.
I'm a newbie here to cd-freaks but this seems like the right place to ask a question relating to my problem. Sorry if I am in wrong forum but I think it is the right one.
Basically I bought a new hard drive for storing a lot of media (mainly video files) and also an eSATA express card/34 for my laptop to get better speeds than usb for transferring across. My problem is that I thought eSATA would be much faster but that was not the case. Now I wasn't expecting 300mb/sec but then I wasn't expecting my usb 2.0 cable to be faster than the eSATA cable.
The eSATA was only getting an average of 25mb/sec while the usb 2.0 was averaging at 30mb/sec. I was at least expecting it to get 50mb/sec.
After contacting the manufacturer of the express card they said the speeds seemed very slow but had no solution other than making sure the driver is the current version (which it is).
Hard Drive: LaCie Big Disk Extreme 2TB eSATA external hard drive; 7200rpm; 32mb cache.
Laptop: Sony Vaio FW21M; intel core 2 duo 2.4ghz; 400gb HD
Express Card: Startech 2 port eSATA express card/34
If anybody has any suggestions I would be very grateful.
