I have:
HP Pavilion
Model #: p6210y PC
AMD Athlon II 620 Quad-Core Processor
6GB system memory
NVIDIA GeForce 9100 integrated graphics
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Super Multi DVD Burner with LightScribe Technology

Hardware added:

HP Blu-ray DVD Writer bd340i-H01 2 (I’ve seen where bd340iRH24 = Bd340i = LiteOn iHBS112 = HP N82E16827140051),

Software Added:

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 64-bit,
Business Contact Manager 2010 64-bit,

and
Communicator 2007 R2 32-bit

The HP bd340i came Bundled with Cyberlink Software DISK: Cyberlink BD Solutionv6, The ultimate playback & burning suite for Blu-ray Disc

For BD Writer

Ÿ PowerProducer 5
Ÿ PowerDirector 7
Ÿ Power2Go 6
Ÿ PowerBackup2
Ÿ LabelPrint2

I bought the bd340i-H01 2 burner and then some disks, Memorex Recordable BD-R 4X which I discovered are actually RITEK-BR2-000, in September 2010 and burnt a couple BD-R Blu-ray movies with no problem using the CyberLink Software. Since the end of November 2010 I’ve been trying to burn another BD-R movie but keep getting errors. CyberLink takes 3 to 4 days to respond to anything and after a lengthy amount of time have not resolved my problem. Their last attempt to remedy was for me to install PowerProducer from a file they sent me. This did not work and I let their support know 1/12/11 and they have yet to respond so I am seeking help wherever I can.

I uninstalled all my CyberLink software, re-installed it, and I still get errors. I contacted HP and they suggested using Sony, Verbatim, TDK, or Tayo Yuden disks.

With the Memorex BD-R’s PowerProducer would usually go to 90% to 99% and then say there was an error. I bought some Verbatim D-R LTH Type Registrable, (VERBAT-IMw-000) and still get errors. But now it only goes to 20% to 21% before the error box pops up.

Errors I’ve received: “Burning Failed EB191E82”, “PowerProducer has stopped Working”, “Burning Failed …. (1)Burning not complete. (EB191087)”, “Burning Failed…. Not enough storage is available to complete this operation. (8007000E)”, “Burning Failed … Unspecified error (80004005)”, and with the Verbatim disks: “Burning Failed… (1) Could not format disc.(EB191784)”, “Burning Failed… (1)Burning not complete.(EB191087)”.

The only problem I’ve had with this computer was a few minor glitches after windows did an automatic update/upgrade in October 2010 and one of the things it did was change my email. It did not allow me to restore and I lost all my email contacts, rules, folders, settings, etc.

I’m trying to make a BD-R movie with menus from video I took with my HD Camera. The files download from my camera onto my computer as MP4 video. Even though this software came with my BD burner, the CyberLink software (PowerDirector) says it can’t import my video because it is H.264. I can only use PowerProducer. Any suggestions on what I need to do to successfully burn a BD-
R movie using PowerProducer v 5.5.3.2325 ULTRA? Thanks.

Two suggestions to start. First, use Verbatim 4x disks, but not the LTH variety. Use their regular, inorganic writing layer disks, rather than the organic dye LTH Verbatim.

Output from PowerProducer to the hard drive if that is an option. Then burn with a free burning program called ImgBurn. You can find it here: www.imgburn.com

The output from PowerProducer should be a folder (with the name of your video) with two subfolders inside it. They should be named BDMV and Certificate. Start up ImgBurn, click on Write files/folders to a disc, then import the entire folder (with the two subfolders inside it). ImgBurn will recognize that you are burning blu ray video and if you have any setting incorrect for burning blu ray it will ask to correct them for you. Let it do so. Set the burning speed to 4x. Then click on the folder–>disc icon at the bottom of the window in ImgBurn to start the burning process. It will probably ask you to make a file name at this point, so go ahead and do that then click ok.

If you cannot output to the hard drive with PowerProducer, you may have to use another program for converting your video to blu ray format. I have a free suggestion for that if you need it, but lets see if this works first.

I will look for some Verbatim 4x disks. Tried ith what I have. First with the Verbatim LTH type. Didn’t work. Some of the Memorex BD-r’s I tried before still show as blanks so I put one in. I didn’t change the write speed. Still didn’t work but did go further than the Verbatim before failing. Both attempts are in the ImgBurn log file which is pasted below. There are other ImgBurn Log files, but i renamed this one for this session.

Does this tell whether the problem is with the disk, burner, or software?
Thanks again

#4

The problem is the drive does not like either of these disks. A firmware update might help, but I could not find one at the HP site. The firmware that is currently in the drive is designated RH24. You might have to contact HP directly to obtain a new firmware revision, or think about crossflashing the drive to accept Lite-On firmware.

If you are going to try the latter, I’d suggest starting a thread in the Lite-on forum here at MyCE, for the moderators and users in that subforum will be much better informed than I regarding that process.

#5

I don’t know what the RH24 designation means, but, what designation should I request from HP, as opposed to RH24?
Thanks

#6

Contacted HP - tech guy had me check my DVD Region setting in Device Manager. It had never been set. He had me set it to USA, Region 1 and said that should do it. Tried to burn using PowerProducer and then via ImgBurn as instructed above. Neither one worked. Not sure if it’s the disk (all I have is Verbatim LTH) and will order some Verbatim 4x. I believe ImgBurn shows it’s still RH24 firmware - whatever that means:

Now what?

#7

Setting region code won’t do diddly squat to help incompatibility with these LTH disks. As you have found out.

Wait till you get some regular Verbatim. Keep pestering HP for a new firmware. Or talk to the people in our Lite-on forum about crossflashing this HP to Lite-on firmware.

#8

That’s what I thought - I have some Verbatim 4x disks on the way.

What does the RH24 mean and what should I ask for in lieu of RH24 firmware?

#9

RH24 is simply the name/designation of the current firmware. If they offer to send you an “updated” firmware, make sure it isn’t RH24 again. They may not have another available, which could be a problem. And if this burner doesn’t work with the regular Verbatim, you’re down to crossflashing the drive. You’ll need to talk to CodeKing or the other Lite-on experts at that point.

:a:a:a
Disks arrived - Verbatim BD-R 25GB 4x #96769 - Opened Power Producer, loaded existing project, selected burn, 20-30 minutes made it to 100%, disk ejected." burned successfully" window popped up. Put disk in my blu-ray player and it said “ERROR” and ejected. Put into my computer and window popped up saying was a disk in the drive with an unrecognizable format!!

Put another disk in. Burnt using ImgBurn “burn folder to disk”. Went to about 92% and I/O Error box popped up"
I/O Error!

:a:a:a
Been dealing with computers in one way or another since 1978. Only had 1 iMac and had it for about 5 years. I’m growing to hate PC’s and Microsoft more and more.
:a:a:a

After a while i’ll probably try to redo the movie in powerproducer and burn again. Daughter’s wedding was 10 weeks ago and I still can’t give her a blu-ray of it. Very frustrating.

What does Imgburn report for the recently burned BD-Rs?

[Mobo info](http://cid-49469085fd1a4edb.office.live.com/self.aspx/ASUS-Pegatron M2N78-LA Motherboard Manual/M2N78-LA ASUS Pegatron Manual Rev 3.pdf)

No idea what sata controller is on your board and what options do you have in the bios.
Could you check and report?

#12

My last post with the ImgBurn log is of the recently burned BD-R - not sure if shows both but shows the 2nd of the 2 for sure.

Haven’t been in BIOS on a computer for years and everything seems different on my Win7 - so can you help me through finding what sata controller is on my board and which options you want me to find and how to find them? Thanks

#13

You must hit F10 key when the computer boots up.
Normally there is an info on the bottom of the screen along with the BIOS variant shown on the top.

What BIOS does it have?

Check this, perform points 1 to 3 and post the SATA mode used here.
Don’t change anything, just report here.

#14

Will do - but first- while i’m there should mine be set for IDE, RAID, or AHCI?

Also - HP support finally said there was a firmware update - from RH24 to RH26 - and sent it to me. Updated, burned my project i’ve been having problems with and was successful. Tried another project and now have 3 failures!

Need RH26 firmware for my HP bd340i BluRay burner
#15

OK, what is the problem with the new project?

#16

Exact same as before - Should my controller mode be set for IDE, RAID, or AHCI?

#17

AHCI would only work if it already was set to AHCI when installing the OS.

IDE should be chosen when you have no RAIDed HDDs.

#18

The OS was installed on the computer when I bought it so I have no idea what it was then. Currently it shows:

SATA Controller [Enabled]
SATA1 Controller Mode [AHCI]

#19

Just try with IDE, if it fails you always can go back.

#20

Hi, BDnov

You said you were sent the driver RH26 from HP. Could you post that somewhere so I can take a crack at it.
I have the same BluRay drive and am having issues with it.

Thanks for your help.
