Error while burning with DVD Shrink

can any one please help with an error

I have used shrink to shrink all goes ok until the last few minutes of burning. The disk spits and says “Error” i have postes the log here :http://users.esc.net.au/~jefflang007/error2.htm

Just before the error i sounded like the dvd burner was having trouble, kind of like the noise a dvd player makes when you put in a blank disk.

Hoping one of you kind souls has the answer,

Jeff

I believe I know what your problem is. But … you didn’t name the media brand, type, and speed rating.

Also, you need to name the burner make and model.

Those are absolute “musts” for any burn related question to be answered.

Whisperer

princo disks and burner is SONY DVD RW DRU 700A diks are 4 x rated.

Things have been fine, this has just started happening. I am wasting disks hand over fist.

Princo isn’t really famous for their great quality.

all well and good, I have never had a problem before, I feel this is more than a dosk problem. Feeling more like its my burner of something

Also do you’ve tried to save the files first on your hd and then burn manually with Burning Rom instead of NVE?

i have tried shrink direct and have tried to burn from nero using files. still no good!

Do you have different media to test? As reported by other forum members, Princo media isn’t regarded very highly. Additionally you indicate that your media is rated at 4x and according to the nero log, you are attempting to burn at 8x. Try reducing your burning speed.

yeah have tried diff media and slowed speed, still no good

From now on, use more useful titles for your threads than “Dvd burning nerd required!” so that others can get an idea of what the thread is about from the title itself (which is the whole point of having a title). I’ve changed the title of this thread to something more suitable.

thanks AZI, I was not sure what to call the thread and thought this may generate some interest. Sorry if i have offended you.

Another error log from today

http://users.esc.net.au/~jefflang007/vector.htm

also today shrink went through the entire process and stated that it burn ok then when i looked at the disk there was only 2/3 burnt and obviously it would not play.

I’ve had the same error in the past. I solved it by switching to better media (Verbatim or TY) and cleaning the drive. I’m not sure which method fixed it, but after doing these things my problem went away.

I just took the top off the drive, cleaned the lens with soft cloth and rubbing alcohol. I also lubed the sliding mechanism while I was in there.

Might not work for you, but it’s worth a shot.

Also, make sure you aren’t doing anything else on your computer when burning. Give it full resources.

just as a huge cuation to the original poster, i would definitely try better media before following the instructions in wobblejunior’s post.

if you do decide that your drive needs to be “cleaned” I’d recommend using a lens cleaning disc. anything that involved taking the drive apart also involves the potential to screw something up. not to mention the minute that drive comes apart, regardless of how expereiences you are with these things your warranty is immediately voided.

Very true statement. I should have mentioned this should not be performed by someone who isn’t comfortable with taking apart electronics. And doing this will void any warranty on the drive. My appologies.

Princos burned about 4 years ago at 4x are now unreadable on any standalone despite having no visible scratches at all. Princo SUX!

I just recently started having problems with burning DVD’s. The burner that I’m using is a Samsung WriteMaster Tm and I’ve tried using HP disc and also Memorex. I am successfully able to use DVD shrink but when the burn process begins it fails almost immediately. Here is the log:

I encountered a problem while trying to Backup a DVD using DVD Shrink. During the process there ais a dancing man in the preview window, adn everytime you try and back up, you would get DVD Shrinkhas encountered a problem. The DVD is disc 6 of a series of discs and the other burned with no porblem. Any on experience anything like this?

DVDburn73 dvdshrink is not able to decrypt that movie due to the sony arccos copy protection. dvdshrink is no longer being updated you need a more up to date program like dvdfab
