Error reading data when burning with nero

Hello
I was hoping someone could help me out with a problem I am having backing up my dvd’s. I have searched the forum and tried everything I can think of to solve the issue.

I have a liteon 411s drive (flash with the latest FSOJ firmware), I am using the latest version of both dvd shrink and nero. the drive is in an enclosure case and connected to my laptop through a usb 2.0 notebook card.

Now I never had any kind of problem before with this setup. I have burned many dvd’s with no problems but recently I re-installed windows in my computer and ever since then, when nero is burning the dvd the read buffer goes down to 0% and it says error reading data. It always stops at the same point for a particular movie. (for instance movie A will always stop at 9% whereas the back up for movie B will always stop at 27%).

I have tried several brands of disks and several burning/ripping programs like dvd decrypter, clonedvd and copytodvd and with all of them it always gets an error at the same point in the burning process.

I have checked and installed all the correct drivers for everything and the latest ASPI with forceASPI. The drives are running in ultra DMA mode as well.

What I think is the strangest part is that I can burn Cd’s perfectly and I have no problems copying a DVD+R movie directly to another disk either. The problem only shows up when burning the dvdshrink produced files.

Here is the Nero log :

First off this isn’t very good. You seem to have ALOT of programs taking up your memory. You should clear out what ever is taking over all of your memory.

Second. If as you say the movies all stop at a certain point but different points for diferent movies it sounds like the copy protection kicking in. Have you tried using AnyDVD? If it is the copy protection then this should get around it.
