Error: Could not perform endtrack

I’m using Nero 5.5 enterprise edition and a Samsung RW 52-24-52. When I try to burn a CD, it writes the data half way and then an error occurs saying that “Could not perform endtrack”. Could somebody please help me out of the problem.

Save the log (using the Save Log…) button at the bottom of the burn window. Open the file in a text editor, then cut and paste all but the top two or three lines (which contain your name and the Nero serial number) into a reply.

Without that information, all we can really do is guess.

David

Thanks - that’s the log I was wanting.

The error is an odd one - one of the commands issued to write the disc timed out - that is, Nero issued a command and the drive didn’t respond in a reasonable time.

A couple of things you can try - firstly, I’d upgrade to Nero 5.5.10.56, which is the latest 5.5 version. You can get that from ftp://ftp4.nero.com/Nero551056.exe. I don’t think that will fix the problem, but it will ensure you’re on the latest version of Nero anyway.

The thing that may be more likely to solve this - the driver list indicates that you have a Roxio CD package installed - Easy CD Creator or something like that.

My first step would be to try uninstalling all CD writing software, rebooting, install Nero 5.5.10.56 and trying again.

David

Also try turning off Antivirus software. Lets face it: Nero doesnt like antivirus software shields enabled when writing.

Now if you dont have any antivirus software installed, try installing one to check if you have a virus. Then disable its AV shield everytime you run Nero.

Check the media(disk) brand to see if it is supported by your recorder.
Check for any firmware upgrades to your recorder.
For all the above go to samsung website.

The worst case scenario is that your recorder has a hardware problem and looses the track focus or something similar. However this is the worstcase . You will need to get a new recorder if this is the real case.
