Editing WMV files on a Mac

Hello editing wizards!

Apologies in advance for my ignorance - I’ve done several searches for what I’m looking for, but as I was rather overwhelmed by the results, I was hoping you could set me in the right direction…

I have a series of wmv files that are about 30 minutes each and that I’d like to edit down to 5 minutes or so. Can anyone recommend any free Mac software that will allow me to do this? If possible, I’d like to edit several files together and form a sort of reel combining all of the different files. I know I could probably do this with QuickTime Pro, but was hoping to avoid having to upgrade as I will probably only use the features for this one project. A program that converts the wmv to something I could edit in imovie, for instance, might be more useful.

Thanks in advance and happy new year!

AVI DeMux appears to be available for the Mac. It should be able to re-code WMV to DV. At least the Windows version can.

Thanks!
