Editing out commercials

I am looking for a fairly simple program to edit out commercials that are recorded from TV on a DVD recorder (no hard drive).
What I do is record a program on my LG recorder on a +RW, then take that disk to my computer to edit. I copy from the disk to my hard drive. Right now, I am trying to use Cyberlink Powerdirector Express (came with my JVC GZ-MG77U camera), but it is far too difficult to use. I don’t like to go through several repetitive steps and the help file is almost of no use.
I use DVDFab Platinum to make DVD back-ups, but I would like an “easy to use” program to edit video from my camera, as well from my recorder.
I am not above buying a program, but cheap, and better yet free is nice too.
I did look (briefly, albeit) at the FAQ’s but frankly, I am not sure what to look for.
Also, I am on dialup (WIMAX coming within 6 months, hopefully), so I may have to store buy.

Thanks
Colin

TMPGEnc-Author is what I use for this, and it doesn’t have to re-encode the video.

You might try VideoReDo Plus

You can take a look at it here:

Thanks guys, will look at them both.
