I have a Samsung 8X CD-R/W Drive in an older computer. Till now i have been able to successfully burn CDs with it using Roxio EasyCD 5. But lately i am getting two types of errors while recording.
1] Finalizing the CD at 4x used to take 1:02 minutes. Now it seems to skip the finalization process. It starts to Finalize, then 2 seconds later suddenly displays CD is successfully burned.
2] The individual files, especially the large files, usually have errors in them that make them unreadable. I have a program called CD Check that i use to compare the burned CD's contents with their source. (http://elpros.si/CDCheck/) The most common error the prgram shows are "percentage mismatch", which means only a part of the file was written. It is usually followed by a win32 error that says "a device attached to the sysytem is not functioning".
I have no idea what the problem is. I regularly defrag the hard drive and clean the CD burner's lens. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
