I've been using EAC for a long time. Currently using v 0.99b5. With this version (and previous) my last most often used drive was a Plextor Premium 1. A number of months ago I replaced it with a Premium 2 and I'm just not sure about some of the quirks that I'm seeing. There's nothing wrong with the drive, per se, but read on.
In particular the issue that bothers me is that on the Prem2 on both T&C many tracks will hang at 99.9% for up to a minute before moving to the next action. For both the Prem1 and 2 I have EAC set up for -USEFUA, Accurate Stream Checked, Caches Unchecked, C2 Checked, Fast Mode and Burst Mode both Unchecked. Detection Method D8. With this same setup my Prem1 rarely (if ever) had this kind of lengthy pause at the end of individual T or C actions on a track. Is this a known characteristic of the Premium 2? I've heard it is slightly slower than a Premium 1 at ripping. I've re-ripped many CDs which were done on my Prem1 just to check, and in cases where my old drive would blast from T to C to T to C etc, the Premium 2 will sometimes do this "hang" thing at 99.9% before continuing. Any insight appreciated.
