Hello everybody! My first post here
I have a weird problem with my new DW1640 recorder. It cannot read any CDs including CD-R, CD-RW, pressed CDs, blanks, different brands. No problem with DVD media and burning DVDs is also fine.
Of course burning CD-R/RW is not possible cause drive doesn't recognise such media. When I put CD-R/RW disc into the drive - it makes a few times some noise, tryes to spin cd and finishes without any results.
Interesting enough is the fact that burning and reading DVDs is OK. So the burner is working.
I tried to boot my system with bootable CD in the drive - but the same thing - doesn't recognize CD. I have hard disk on primary channel as master and DW1640 burner as slave, and on secondary channel CD-RW burner. DMA enable. No other errors. Burner is not retail version. BTW I upgraded drive to newest BSLB firmware but no difference.
Maybe someone can give some suggestions how to repair this. Or maybe it just mean that drive is malfunctioning and should be returned to manufacturer.
