Most updaters fail to work over usb… Also, they are probably OEM firmwares for different OEMs, so they wont allow flashing your drive…
I have no clue which fw is from which OEM, you may try a hex editor to find it out.
Well, after reading some more posts I have decided to try the fw 1.44 rpc1 and it went smoothly:), lucky me!
It flashed through usb2 connection and the drive is fine.
I still need to run Anydvd for the W. media player to play official dvds or it freezes, Intervideo Windvd plays the disc without the Anydvd, however, it asks for region change for the software and counts the changes (I asume) because there is a changes left indication.
I did not try burning yet, I hope it is ok.
Question: before flasing, with Anydvd, W. media player played the dvds with no region changes request, what is the point of rpc1 flashing if you still need to run Anydvd? wouldn’t autoreset be better?
If I don’t use Anydvd, would the Intervideo Windvd stop playing the dvds after 5 region changes in the sw?
