DVR-112D Master or Slave


The DVR-111D was the first burner that ran best being configured as the Master with my Sony DVD-ROM drive as the Slave. In fact, I do believe the install guide recommended it. Yet, every other burner I have owned was perfectly happy being jumpered as a Slave with the DVD-ROM drive as the Master.

What is the case with the DVR-112D?


works fine as slave (to a HDD) for me!

Master is preferred because of the way the IDE channels operate. The Master gets a higher priority than the slave, and on a device such as a burner with low buffer, and ever increasing write speeds its important to ensure a good burn.

Something to do with polling methods of the master/slave channels and their interrupts, according to my limited knowledge of computer engineering :stuck_out_tongue:
