DVR-106D can't update firmware

Hi,i have a Pioneer DVR-106D(BK) drive and i want to update firmware, but whatever release (Flashman,Pioneer original and others mentioned in this forum) i try all of them telling that can’t find a drive :a .That drive i have taken out from I-O Data external DVD drive case(DVR-UEP4D),it’s working fine but i want faster ripping speed and maybe it can burn dvd+rw faster than x2.4?Can somebody give me a clue how to flash the firmware for this drive?
Thanks.

This is an OEM drive.

You ronly chance is to convert it into a true Pioneer drive aka crossflashing using DVRFlash!

Hi,i tried to use dvrflash v2.1.1 and half of the way everything goes fine but when finally i enter the last command * DVRFlash -vf 0.0.0 R5100004.133 R5100104.133 *
i get an error that:
fopen(): No such file or directory (EMOEMT)
Can’t open firmware file ‘R5100004.133’ .
What i’m doing wrong?Do i need to download firmware file from somewhere or what?
Here is whta readme telling :
5/ Now that you have found your device, you can enter the command:

DVRFlash -vf 1.0.0 R5100004.133 R5100104.133 .

Thanks

There is only 1 commandline you have to enter to flash your drive…

fopen(): No such file or directory (EMOEMT)
Can’t open firmware file ‘R5100004.133’ .

Isn’t that enough info?

Man, this line in the README is just an EXAMPLE!
You must use the correct names of the firmware you wanna flash.

They should be named like Rxxxx006.xxx (kernel) and Rxxxx106.xxx (normal firmware) !
You can extract them from an official updater with WinRAR 3.x.

I get one from OEM_Pioneer_DVR-106_UNIVERSAL_Flash_1.0 named R6100006.105 and another one named R6100106.107 and taht is not working. Now error tels that can’t open the device R6100006.105 :a .Sorry for my stupidity in searching, can you link me in the place where i can find those 2 magic working files?
Thanks.

They are the correct ones!

Open a command prompt (DOS) window using “cmd”.
Enter “cd” to navigate to the root of the drive.
Use “cd” command to navigate to the folder where dvrflash and the two files are located.
Then run DVRFlash with:

DVRFlash -vf X: R6100006.105 R6100106.107

(replace X with the correct driveletter!)

…enter “y” when asked to flash the drive.

I don’t know what was wrong bus just minutes ago i downloaded the same file(Flashman’s OEM_Pioneer_DVR-106_UNIVERSAL_Flash_1.0.zip) from the same site and after i changed pif properties to letter D:,everything wents more fine than warm butter on the warm bread
I get it from here http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=115543
.Some kind of mystery nothing more :a  .What i wrote before about that 2 files first i thought that it’s included somehow inside after that came common sense that i need to find those files…bla bla bla.Anyway thank you for trying hard  !This forum is very kind  even sometimes people loke more dumb than they really are :o :o still help is coming to them. So,now i want to ask which firmware i need to get for this drive to get all juices from it that are possible?No.1 thing i really need in this drive-as fast as possible to write dvd+rw media.I have x4 media, but until today i can write it only x2.4.YADA KORIEEEE!Thanks for any further help.

Fucking I-O Data! Why they just can’t put normal drive without their stupid kernel???

Because it’s an IO-DATA OEM drive, or better, was.
Overspeeding RW media was never a good idea and isn’t enabled for any drive.

Now have a look at the links listed here:
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1615

The understanding of how the flashers etc. work is not the problem, I just think that it is a way of learning and anyone can learn it as long as there will be a little effort put into it…

greetings, chef

Thanks a lot.
