DVDShrink and Nero 6

Hi guys, I am souzan and this is my first post, hope someone can help me.

I run DVDIdle Pro, and use DVD Shrink to copy, this works well but somtimes the burn fails and throws an error report. I have copied the report but it means absolutely nothing to me. I don’t even know why it mentions Nero.
Please excuse my ignorance.

The report is as follows:

Does this mean anything, TIA Souzan

Can a Mod please remove the OP’s serial?

Welcome Souzan

You need to download and install a firmware update for your Pioneer burner to properly support the used DVD-R media. Your drive has firmware version 1.17 whilst the current is 1.58.

I also suggest that you lower the burn speed from 16X to 12X with these discs.

Thank you Cressida, I will try your suggestion. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I don’t mess up.

You’ll be alright  . Go here: http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/content/support/support/software.html and download R109_FW158EU.EXE (note where you’re saving it to!). Run this executable (double-click it) without any disc in the drive and after completion it will ask you to reboot your PC. Windows will report New Hardware found and off you go!

Thank you Cressida, I used the link then did exactly how you instructed me, and all I got was a box popping up saying “Available target not found” what have I done wrong?

Please be patient with me  this is all new to me, scarey and interesting.

How about RA09_FW158EU.EXE from the same page (just above the other one)?

Did this work at all, Souzan? If neither the OEM nor Retail firmware versions from Pioneer work, then you may have yet another OEM firmware installed (for example if your drive came with a Sony Vaio PC). If in doubt, just ask!
