Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any other reports of this particular error code, and Philips are the only ones who know the meaning. Collective experience suggests that 'DB' = 'Digital Board', so it is probably a hardware error.
You could try a firmware upgrade (as described in the sticky thread). There's nothing to lose, because I'm afraid that otherwise it's either a repair job by Philips or a new recorder; and the latter maybe more cost-effective.
