Hi, I am new and extremely ignorant. Almost everything I try to do on my computer frustrates. But recently I purchased on line the DVDFAB Platinum DVD burning program. The downloading process was a nightmare. The sent my registration code as an attachment to the e-mail. I couldn’t open it. I had them send it to my e-mail and it was about a thousand characters long. All gibberish. It was impossible to duplicate by typing it in and they told me to paste it in. I don’t know how to do that. The I went back to the set-up and it appeared that it had downloaded. I had two icons on my desktop one opened the program and the other opened a box with a nonsense notice about the key would be reactivated or something. It didn’t make sense or seems to do anything. I tried to use the program but had no luck. I went to their help site and printed out the tutorial. It told me first to select the source and target. I need to download the DVD then burn it a blank. I have been working on this for hours and can’t seem to get it to do anything. It doesn’t seem to create and video file. If it does I can’t get the source box to accept any information or document. This shouldn’t be this hard. I know I’m ignorant but this is just not working. Sometimes I get a different response but mostly it just does nothing or asks me to select a source file. When I click on the folder icon next to the source button my documents pop up but I can’t do anything with them.
Please could some wiser person out there give me some guidance.
PS I am so new that I don’t even know how this forum works. What is a thread? What is a tag?
Please see Kerry56’s post regarding what a thread is… basically, it’s a question you’ve asked, and a venue we can respond on…all kept together in one area for easy reference by all involved…
As to being new and unknowledgable, don’t worry…we’ve all been there… I’m going to take you step by step to a working understanding of the program and how to use it.
DVDFab is a program specifically written to allow you to back up any DVDs you own (which I will start referring to as ‘store-bought’) to keep the originals safe and scratch-free while you use the copies for watching. (especially useful if you have little ones running around!).
For a variety of reasons, please do not download any films… I’ll explain why later…
Before we start, I need to know some basic information, so at this point, please start up DVDFab. We need to be in the main program window (you can tell, as there will be a gray bar across the top of the program window, showing, from left to right, the Fab icon - same as the desktop one - and some text ‘DVDFab (Mobile Option) Ver. 22.214.171.124…’
Of particular interest are the two small icons (a white check-mark on a green disk, and a white question mark on a blue disk). Please click on the question mark.
You’ll then have two options: ‘Tutorial’ and ‘About’.
Please click on 'About’
The ‘About’ screen will tell me if you are still in Trial Version, or, if the key registered, your status for both DVDFab and the Mobile Option.
Please advise what that screen says about your status. (It’ll determine my next post to you).
