“Cloud decryption for DVDs”… really? I can’t believe I just read that. Seriously, what’s next, “cloud CPU temperature monitoring”, or “cloud [chkdsk/fsck]”?

I know the cloud seems like a convenient gimmick to a lot of corporations, but do we really need “cloud decryption for DVDs”? If speed is an issue, why not implement a faster decryption engine, instead of tying a simple process to “the cloud”? A faster decryption engine seems like common sense to me.

For the good of DVD owners everywhere, I do hope that this feature can be turned off. The last thing I want is to have “the cloud” spy on what movies I choose to backup.

On a positive note, I do like the fact that Fengtao seems to be keeping DVDFab’s RAM/CPU usage in check.
