:confused:i havbe latest dvdfab plat.windows vista ultimate, been backing up my dvd library for awhile and no probs. that is untill recently. when i split a dvd9 to 2 dvd5’s everything goes good…reading coping and burnin g the first disk. then when it finalizes it just keeps finalizing. it is task 3 of 5 and never stops or asks for disk 2,. i can eject disk and it plays fine. either the finalizing is messed up or it isnt going to the second disk. hope i was clear. can anybody help. would be appreciated muchly. i can always use custom to split and urn the back up but i still would like to know what thew proib is,ya know! thanks

just replied to another member with a split problem. i suggested to use customize until the problem can be fixed. i see you are using customize. is this working good for you?

please send the ifo files from the original dvd and the split dvd’s to fengtao.

as for the finalizing trouble. i really have no idea.

Please post a couple of items from the burn log, which can be found at C:\Documents and Settings…username…\My Documents\DVDFab\Log\ This is a text file that you can open with Notepad and copy and paste a few recent entries into a reply post.

there is a way to finalize a disc using a VSO tool. navigate to C:\Program Files\DVDFab Platinum 4\PcSetup.exe with your disc in the drive, right click on your dvd burner and click finalize.

or with imgburn, click tools menu, drive, close, disc.

burn log looks good. no errors or problems.

i do have a few suggestions.

  1. update the firmware for your dvd burner
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2396

  2. slow down the burn to 8x

  3. set the booktype to dvd-rom

so is the finalizing problem only when burning after a split? or does the finalize problem occur in other modes?
