DVDFab has introduced software to copy Ultra HD Blu-ray movies. The Chinese company sells the software at $60 and promises to preserve HDR10 and Dolby Vision video. Compressing an Ultra HD Blu-ray movie can be performed in around a hour, due to support for hardware acceleration.
Which Ultra HD Movies are unprotected?
Why I need a software for copying unprotected movies, isn´t it more easy to copy it via Windows or other freeware tools?
DVDFab already announced last year that it would not make any effort to crack the AACS 2.0 copy protection as found on Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. Therefore, the software can only be used on unprotected Ultra HD Blu-ray movies.
So you want me to buy it but it fails to decrypt? That is wasted money but it can be used to backup unprotected UH BD - Really… So how do they fathom one would buy their software only to find out …you bought software that doesn’t work on UH BD protected but only unprotected. That isn’t going to fly…
Surely the hard part of copying a UHD Blu-ray is unprotecting it, there’s little point in this software if it can’t do that. You might as well just buy the UHD Blu-ray and download a decent UHD rip off the internet rather than paying for this.
