dvdFab Gold Read Errors

I originally used DVDFab Express with no problems but after upgrading my system and reloading DVDFab Gold I continually get read error “102”. I have downloaded the latest version, as recommended by DvdFab’s help department, but the problem remains. Out of curiosity I downloaded a demo version of another DVD copy program and it worked. I would rather use DVDFab and could do with some advise. Thanks … Carmel

:confused:To all,
Need some help or at least direction on this issue.
I have the latest version of DVDFAB 4.0.2.0.
DVDFAB recognizes the source DVD and copies it to my hard-drive.
But I get an error report every time I try to burn it to my source (empty DVD) drive. I have tried Sony, HP,Meomorex, etc. DVD +R DVD’s… but still get the error message. Error Message says: “Failed to Burn, Then it states: No Media detected in E: Please insert a compatible media to start the write process.”

I have an NEC DVD+RW ND-2100 burner and I just burned some music, so I know the burner works.
I have contacted DVDFAB on several occasions, but all they ever state is to download their latest version… which I did, but still have the same error issue.
The burn report stated the burner is dirty… but I cleaned it and it still comes up with errors.

Any help or direction would certainly be appricated.

Below is the burn report:

Sounds like your using 16x media on a 4x burner, what media are you trying to use?
Welcome to the forum zqbno0

I have tried just about everything… Fuji 8x, hp 16x…
I think I may have reset DVDFAB to 4x… but prior to that it was on auto.

Maybe a Mod (Hi, Alan) will move this to the Fab forum for more response’s. Does it read the media ID on any of the disks you have tried?

12/20/2007 7:36:33 PM info Media ID can’t be read from this media

No it has not recognized any of the bland dvd’s that I have tried.

Might be time for a new burner, it really needs to know the Media ID to do a proper burn.

I thought the same thing, but then why would it burn music?

CD’s use a different laser and strategy than DVD’s. The good news is a new burner is less than 50 bucks (US).

For as much time and energy I have put into trying to figure this out… I think I will follow your advice.

Thanks for your input…
Have a great holiday.

Your welcome, I think you will find that a new one will seem like night and day over your 2100, check out the reviews on this forum for a new one, some really good advice.
