DVDFab Fail to Finalize

Forgive me if the question has already been asked . . .
I have DVDfab 5.2.3.0 and I keep getting: failed task3=100 (something like that), it keeps failing to finalize. The copy process works and so does the write process but when it comes to finalizing . . . . Is my burner dying? Is it the memorex dics I’m using? Is it the Star Trek I’m trying to burn? (Yes, I’m a geeky girl trying to burn Start Trek! :p) Please help!

What burn engine are you using? Is it the default VSO? Download ImgBurn and use that as the burn engine it is a free program and I think a better burn engine.

Try to capture the exact error code. It would help us help you if you would post the burn log from this failure. The file is named dvdfab_burn_vso.log. You can use windows search to find it, Notepad to open it; copy the entry from the failure; paste into a post. ImgBurn is good idea regardless. :iagree:

Hi DivineOubliette and welcome,

failed task3 error refers to a “verify” error when using VSO.
Unfortunately the verification function in VSO is useless
and does nothing but create problems.
In Common Settings > Write simply untick
Verify disc after finished burning

Does the bkup disc play ok in your dvd player?
The Finalization error may be a false error report.

If the bkup discs aren’t finalized, you can still salvage and finalize them.
This looks complicated, but it only takes seconds.

DVDFab Finalize a disc

Right click on the Fab Icon >
Left click Properties >
Left click Find Target >
Left click PcSetup.exe >
Left click on the + in front of Patin-Couffin driver >
Now left click once to select your burner >
Right click on the selected burner >
Navigate to the bottom of the dropdown to Finalize the media

Frankly, I’d do as Dialysis and my good friend signals suggest
and dump VSO and please post the burn log as suggested.
Fab users have seen a lot of problems with it.

Img is much more reliable and configurable.
If you’re interested, Img’s verify function works just fine.

Please make the following change in Img:

tools > settings > build > don’t prompt image details

This will create a seamless process for SL burning.
The Img window will pop up, but will not require any action from you.

No problem and no need to say sorry as everyone skips reading a post or 2 in a thread now and then:bigsmile:
