DVDFab error 112 on new machine

Hi there. I’ve searched the forums and haven’t really found an answer to this, so I’m trying a new thread.

I just bought a new machine, which has a built-in (HP) SuperMulti DVD burner with LightScribe Technology (that’s what it says) and I’ve been trying to burn a DVD and have been getting an interesting set of errors. The latest, more consistent one, is a 112.

Basically, I’m trying to do a merge of the two disks of Gangs of NY. I copied both main movies to my HDD and tried to do a merge onto a DVD9, which didn’t work. Then I did the merge into a different folder on my HDD and it worked fine and the movie plays fine. Then I tried to burn that onto the DVD9 and it looked like it would go, but then failed. I’m using Memorex DVD+R DL (which I’ve used fine before I got this machine - this is the first fail I’ve ever gotten with them) and just got this machine a week ago: HP, p6310y, 2.8GHz, AMD Athlon II Quad-core, 6GB RAM. I’m running Win7 Pro. Using DVDFab 5.

The log files of the last error (the last few pretty much look the same) are:

First off Welcome to the forum bubbles13

You just answered your own question with that statement about using the
Memorex or as we like to call them around here Memowrecks discs.

Try some Verbatim DL discs you’ll see a big difference in the burn quality on
your new system. You said you had no trouble using them before getting the
new system but it goes something like this… what works on one burner
may not work at all on another burner as I believe you are finding out with all
of the interesting set of new errors you’re getting. :iagree:

Yea, I know Verbatims are better, but I was wondering if the issue was really the media or not.

As it turns out, I solved the problem after doing some more searching. I installed ImgBurn and told DVDFab to use that. There was still an error where I was getting the “end of the world” error in ImgBurn, but I solved that, also thanks to these forums, using VobBlanker.

I got my Gangs of New York onto one DVD now.

Okay I see where you were using the VSO burn engine and VSO has caused some people
a lot of grief. Yes Imgburn is a lot better for burning than VSO is but still I wouldn’t want
to trust anything really important to those RITEK-D01-01 discs myself, because personally
I just do not trust anything with the RITEK name on it or RITEK in the Media ID anymore. :disagree:

And I would have to 2nd that statement, Verbatims are my 1 st choice for DL media and Falcon would be my 2nd chioce on DL media
