Dvdfab 5.1.2.2 - bsod when ripping simultaneous dvds

Hi guys,

I previously posted this in DVDFab Mobile, but it was recommednded that I more it here for better coverage. (Admins, apologies for cross-posting, but please feel free to remove the other post in DVDFab Mobile).

I’m checking in here to see if I am being a bit of a doofus.

I recently built a htpc to rip my DVD collection to disk. I based the build I had on a spec. I found which included 6 x DVD RW. I currently have 4 - all LG drives with SATA II.

I posted a question in the hardware forum this morning, because I am getting a blue screen of death when attempting to rip multiple dvds at the same time.

it just occurred to me - should DVDfab support the ripping of multiple dvd sources at the same time? - i basically run 4 copies at the same type (cancelling the drive it is trying to read until it reaches the required one for the session).

i saw there was a batch mode, which rips back-to-back - and i’m using that as plan-b right now without issue - so far.

am i being a doofus or should i, in theory, be able to do the simultaneous rips?

It has been suggested that I should really be using a separate controller for the optical drives, which I totally understand, just trying to figure out why in the original articale from which I begun this build said it could be done, here’s the original article;

thanks,
gajit.

if you are curious, this is the thread i posted - suspecting the issue was a hardware clash…

This issue can be related to a driver and/or hardware problem, don’t believe this is a DVDFab issue.
also you may find good info at the link below

and you may want to update to version 5232 or the 5300beta

Tim, I sent gajit over here from the Mobile sub-forum where we had talked about this some already, including the updating. I have not had time to read the article all this is based on yet but will try to see what it says later on. Would really be cool if it could be made to work.

Not sure what you mean by that, but with you involved I sure things will work out for the best :wink:

I suggested he come over here so that more users would see it and lend him a hand.
