Please be gentle with me as I'm getting into areas here which are quite alien to me.
I'm capturing analogue video, editing it and looking to burn onto DVD.
Now, pc is bog standard Dell Dimension 8250 (2.66ghz, 258 RAM, 60GB hard drive...see how little I know!) - my recently purchased writer is Lite-On SOHW-812S.
I have 1hr 38mins of MPEG2 on the hard drive. Have tried InterVideo WinPro3 and Sonic MyDVD to author/write to DVD (Verbatim 8/4x) - no joy.
I've noticed when trailing around the various forums that different authoring softwares can conflict with each other etc but the strangest thing (to me) is that in Windows explorer my writer appears as DVD-RW. This, I think is 'good'. When I put a blank dvd disc in - before my very eyes it changes to CD DRIVE. I eject the blank disc and it returns to DVD-RW.
If I click on the drive with the disc in it, it says 'drive not accesible'.
The drive plays dvd's/cd's fine. As far as I'm aware my jumper settings are ok (writer is master, dvd player is slave?).
Does it appear that I have a hardware issue, an installation issue, or software problems?
How's that for vague?
Any pointers/help much appreciated.
