What program are you using to view the media contents??? And what do you mean dvd player ?? Computer dvd or standalone? What is the movie title?
its reads but do not show in the drive
& when i play it into power dvd it runs on it
but when i explore in the drive
not a single file is shows in it
it shows free space o bytes & used space o bytes
pls tell me wat is the problem
i cant copy any dvd also bcoz of this problem
Are you talking about commercial DVD, or something you burned?
That the drive show a zero free space is normal, because DVD is closed, no more free space.
Try this. Get commercial DVD and place it in drive.
Click on My Computer and see if the name of the movie show on the drive.
If yes, right click on the drive and click on Open.
Let us know what happen.
If Power DVD can read your movie, than the drive is OK.

on opening the drive it does not show ne file
while the power dvd plays the movie
i also cannot copy the movies from dvd to other drive
bcoz it does not shows in drive
& thanks for the above suggestions
pls give me more suggestions
I asked you to insert commercial DVD and see what happen.
Not a DVD you, or anybody else burned.
If you do not have any purchased DVD, go and rent one.
i put the commercial dvd in the driver
it runs on the powerdvd but the drive not showing the movie files
What were you doing when the burner stopped recognizing files?
Is this a new drive you installed recently? If so, did this happen from beginning?
Are you using 80 wire cable for connection?
Is DMA enabled?
What Operating System are you running?
Is the drive on primary or secondary IDE channel?
no its not happened from beginnning
80 wire cable connection that i dont know
wats menas dma enabled
operating system is xp2
drive is primary
on autoplay the commercial dvd its shows that the dvd is blank
there is no file its says that write it
its not happens with all the dvd
it only happens with the local dvds of movies & games
80 wire cable is same width like 40 wire except when you look at it, the ribbon wires look much smaller. You can count them.
This cable is for new drives.
But if you did not installed burner by yourself, most likely it will be correct.
DMA (direct memory access) is setup for IDE channel.
You can find it in Device Manager, if you open Properties of your IDE Primary or Secondary channel and than click on Advance Setting.
Now some more questions.
How old is this drive?
When it started to happen?
What do you mean by “local dvds”?
1 yrs old
probs starts i think after 6 months
local dvds means the pirated dvd
6 in 1 movies dvd or games dvd in which patch is available
If it is only for “local dvds”, I am surprised they still play.
They are burned and it depend on disc quality, which probably is not there.
They are getting to the end of their life.
You can try IsoBuster to retrieve data, it may work.
