Dvd writer for a slow computer?

Hi. I’m thinking in buying a dvd writer for a slow computer. It’s a PII 350 MHz. 128 Mb of ram. The bus is at 100 MHz. I think it’s below minimum requirements for most dvd writers. I want it to be able to read data files from dvds (no movies) and to write them (only data, no movies, no audio) I’ve got already a fast computer with a dvd writer, so I want a cheap and plain writer for the slow computer. Any suggestion? Thanks

Just buy any cheap (and good) DVD burner you can get your hands on, and then resist all temptations at trying to burn faster than 4x or 6x. This could be any of the NEC 3500 series (3500, 3520, 3540, 3550) or BenQ 1620/1640 or LG 4163 or…

1st, get a copy of the hard drive benchmark tool called ATTO and test your hard drive. If you can benchmark at 7000KB/sec speeds, then you’re good to burn at 4x. I’ll wager that you can burn at 8x, (but I won’t wager very much).

Uhh, this is like a flashback…
