I create a lot of dvds for my kids from TV shows I record with my standalone dvd-recorder. I use standard dvd wallets/books that hold 4 discs per page (8 if your counting front and back). Most books have about 20 pages in them (holds 160 dvds - and yes, my kids have more than one book full which are kept in the mini-van or kids TV room). I purchased them from local stores such as Wal-Mart and Target. I have not had any problems with the discs from them being in the books. I have had problems from the kids getting them messy.
However, I can see the truth in geno888 comment about the bigger issue being the discs getting warped when the wallet/book is overstuffed. I have a smaller wallet style that I keep in my car with audio cds (I only carry backup cdrs, and keep original audio discs safe at home). I have overstuffed that wallet with a dozen or so discs, and have had some get slightly warped.
Lesson: Don't overstuff cd/dvd wallets or books. You might rip some of the disc pouches/slots and might also end up with warped discs.
