DVD Shrink problem

Hi, I’m relatively new and I have a problem that I’m going to post about DVD Shrink. I’m also going to look through the previous posts and see if I can find anything relating to the problem I’m having. I’ve been using DVD Shrink for about 3 years now and haven’t had a problem, but just a few days ago I tried to copy a DVD I own and it failed. It says “Burn process failed at 16X(22,160 KB/s) “.
I’ve been using TDK DVDs and I did open a new spindle of them and at first thought maybe the batch was bad. I bought some SONY DVDs and the same thing happened.
I have a SONY DVD RW DRU-830A burner . I’m using NERO.
I’m thinking about downloading CLONEDVD & ANYDVD to see if they work better. I see that TDK & SONY aren’t considered “better” DVDs to use. For the research I did online, I thought Sony was one of the better ones, but maybe not.
Any ideas what I should do? Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.

Try to free up some memory.
Get your self some better quality discs and slow down the burn speed.

#5

Possible options for you [EDIT]in addition to what Dialysis1 said above[/EDIT]:

Your TDK media is made by CMC Magnetics. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, you have one of their more infamous disc models–CMC MAG M01. This disc model has a poor success rate relative to CMC’s other disc models and discs produced by others.

I freed up some of the memory, but that didn’t help. I did try burning at a slower speed, but that didn’t help. I’m going to but some Verbatim DVDs and see if that helps. I upgraded my Nero, but that didn’t help. I noticed that as soon as the DVD Shrink program starts to burn, I get the message that it failed. I don’t think it’s burning at all. Perhaps thats because the disks are bad. I have a friend that’s going to sell me his old Plextor DVD Burner. I still think that’s the problem, that my Sony DVD burner is going bad. I did burn a CD today, so it does burn CDs, so again, maybe it is that I just have a bunch of bad DVDs.

I’m also thinking about downloading ANYDVD & CLONEDVD. I hate to pay for them, but I can try them free for 30 days.

#7

Instead of you wasting DvD-R’s used a DvD-RW when diagnosing your problem.

Thats a good idea. Thanks. Is there a way to tell if the failed DVD is bad or good? I’m thinking it doesn’t even try to burn the disk.
