DVD Shrink Error HELP ME!

Im trying to back up a dvd and at about 60% it comes up with a message saying:
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.

Failed to read file “E:\”

Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

What do I do?

Sounds like you need another copy of the DVD. (Damage)

"Data error (cyclic redundancy check). " means it cant read the dvd. Its either scratched, dirty or a manufacturing problem. Try cleaning it with some alcohol on a tissue, rubbing any scratches with blue gel toothpaste or return it for replacement.

Yep. that error is what I generally get when the DVD is FUBAR. Sometimes it works to clean it but you would be amazed at the number of defective originals that are out there.

DVDDecrypter doesn’t seem to be quite so fussy as Shrink. Sometimes I can get it to copy a disk that Shrink won’t get through. Once its on the hd, you can use Shrink to resize the video files.

And sometimes using a little Pledge spray polish on the disk allows the disk to be read—don’t know exactly why.
