I have been backing up my DVD’s to XviD format by doing the following:
Using DVD Shrink to copy the actual movie or episode to the hard disk in uncompressed format (ie. an exact copy of the movie)
Using AutoGK to convert it into XviD format.
With some DVD’s there is some dialogue which is deliberately spoken in a foreign language. Normally when watching a DVD with no subtitles, you still sometimes get subtitles for this part of the dialogue so you can understand what they are saying.
I’ve recently become aware of the AutoGK option “Display only forced subtitles”, which is supposed to “hard-code” these forced subtitles into the XviD movie.
I’m thinking that to convert every movie successfully, I should choose to copy the Relevant subtitles (English subtitles in my case) when backing up with DVD Shrink, so that these forced subtitles are also backed up. Then, always leave the option “Display only forced subtitles” enabled in AutoGK.
Anyway, that’s the background, no for the questions -
Am I right in my thinking ?
Are there any downsides to always leaving the option “Display only forced subtitles” enabled ?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
