DVD+RW to DVD-ROM help on NEC Drive

Alright, I have a 20 pack of Sony DVD+RW disks, but the program I’m using requires another kind (DVD-ANYTHINGELSETHATSTARTSWITH"R" pretty much) and I read online that I can change the book type to DVD-ROM, which works with the program. It said, however, that this causes a problem on NEC Drives, which is exactly what I have (ND-6650A).

He said, however, that I can use a hacked/custom/whatever-you-wanna-call-it firmware for it to allow it convert the book type. I need to know how, (hopefully) where to download it, and what I can do to make sure I don’t screw up my dad’s laptop.

-NEC Drive came built-in to a XPS Dell laptop

-The article (don’t freak, it’s legal): http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/09/wiigator-backup-launcher-released-makes-chipless-gamecube-backu/

-I also have a small pack of DVD-Rs. Can they work? I don’t want to waste them…

Thanks in advance!

Ew, Laptop drives. They usually have no hacked firmware, but you can check on www.rpc1.org.

For the booktype, here’s how to set it in Nero

Booktype DVD-ROM only works on dvd+ discs.

Useless with RW media, will only lead tomore problems…
