I have a Sony DRU-830A DVD RW Drive.I purchased a Moserbaer 4X DVD+RW and burned an image file on it using Blindwrite and now the disc is unreadable.I tried putting it in inside a DVD Video Player but it says unknown disc.

Try to visit http://www.videohelp.com a lot of useful info

#3

Thanks for your help but I didn’t find any useful information.

Does your standalone player support DVD+RW discs? Do you have VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders on the disc when you explore it?

If not, does your player support any other file formats (.avi etc)?

What happens when you play it on your PC?

I am not familiar with that brand of media. But let me ask a few questions please:

 1. have u ever been able to successfully burn to that media B4? The same disc? Another one from the same stack?

 2. Is the image file ( or the source files B4 creating the image) viewable on ur PC? (can u play it on ur PC?)

 3. I am not familiar w/ blindwrite, could u try ImageBurn instead?

 4. Can u try to burn at 2.4x?

Regards

I suspect “the image” is the problem. No one knows who have created it & how?!?

Yes,my srandalone player supports DVD+RW discs.I cannot explore the disc.I burned some MP3 and data files on the disc because my standalone player supports MP3 files.

1 This is the first time I am using a DVD+RW disc in my drive.I have used CD-RW before and burned it successfully with no problems.

2 No,I can’t play it on my pc.

3 I don’t have ImageBurn but I tried using nero 8 but same problem.

3 I can’t burn the disc btw the disc is rated at 4X.

If it is 4x rated then it is also 2.4x rated. That counts for all DVD+RW.

I tried burning the disc with Nero 8 and Windows. When I try to burn the disc using nero it freezes when writing the lead out.I force eject the drive and when I put the disc in the same drive it says that the disc is empty.

When I try to burn using windows it freezes when formatting the disc.

Please use Imgburn.

I would guess from that log that there’s someting iffy about the disc itself. I’ve never used Moser Baer DVD+RW, only Verbatim and Ritek, so can’t say whether they’re OK discs or not overall.

But I would try another disc. Also, It looks like some other piece of software is denying IMGburn exclusive access to the drive.

#14

I also think that there is something iffy about my disc but there are no scratches on the disc surface.I think my disc is ruined because I wrote a SecuROM protected game on it.I will try a Sony DVD RW disc and another disc of the same brand.

Does writing a SecuROM protected game on a DVD+RW causes problems

Not as far as I’m aware, if the disc is fully formatted before the next use. It could just be that those discs have a limited lifespan compared to other brands.

#16

I purchased a Sony DVD-RW and it is working fine with no problems but I recently purchased a disc of the same brand Moserbaer DVD+RW and having the same problem.

What happens when a DVD+RW is ejected during format?

You should have used the H652D firmware since your drive does not support Lightscribe.

I flashed it to the H652D firmware but still the same problem.

The media is JUNK.
