DVD-RW Dual Layer - Any Point?

Saw an article at http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/News/Details.aspx?NewsId=16035 and wondered what people thought of the idea.

I would have thought that DVD-RW’s are unreliable enough without trying to make them dual-layered.

And then there is the whole firmware issue. Most companies don’t support DVD-R DL so why do JVC think they can get support for DVD-RW DL?

Just wondering if I am missing something?

Sounds good to me. Second-gen DVD recorders that do DVD-RW DL, and probably on a JVC machine, no less? That would be perfect. RW media is good for temp storage, like for DVD recorders.
