Well i was recording a file to a imation DVD_RW and i clicked the option to finilize the disk. So i let it do it for about an hour and when it got to the finalizing stage it did nothing. So i opened up the drive and took the dvd out. After that i aborted the operation. The pc would read the disk but it would not let me erase the contens. So i figured i would clean it. After i did the DVD doesn’t work at all now. The pc doesn’t even see it as a disk. My ps3 reads it just fine but the pc doesn’t. Please helpand tell me a way to fix it, or finalize it.

Seems maybe you changed booktype/bitsetting of the disc?

Download this free tool Nero CD-DVD Speed http://www.cdspeed2000.com/ and with that disc in the drive click on the Info Disc tab. Let us know what booktype it is.

it says the same thing?

#7
it says the same thing?
Well if it shows the same for both options then i am wrong.

You can try ImgBurn to finalize it. It’s a free app. Donate if you like it.

#8

yea. but will that work even though the pc cant read the files on it?i mean it can see it just from looking at those tests right. but it cant read it, so would that work?

#9

also how would i do that and fix it. i am new to dvd burning.

#10

Can I ask how you cleaned the disc
also you said you was recording,…do you mean you was recording using a TV tuner card “Capture”
If so I had the same problem and I used ImgBurn to close/Finalize the disc and it did work…for me anyway

#11

i just clean a few finger smudges off with a microfibe rcloth made for disks. And by recording i mean i had some vids on my HDD and i was putting them on the DVD.

Ok…got another question what program was or did you use to burn/record the files to the disc,…sorry for the Q’s just trying to grasp your problem better
never had DVDFab give the “click the option to finilize the disk”

#13

It appears that you have Nero…

Have you tried using Nero to reformat the disk?

If Nero was the program,…wouldn’t that be a Nero issue and not DVDFab

#15

i was using the new dvd fab beta version that came out yesterday.
i was using the new dvd fab beta version that came out yesterday.
OK sorry for asking but where is thisoption in DVDFab that you said
"click the option to finilize the disk"

this is the first time I have heard of this option,…when DVDFab copys and burns to disc it does it automatically without giving the option to finalize or not finalize

#17

it was under the settings menu. it wasn’t enabled so i enabled it.

I just open ever settings in DVDFab and did not see this option,…have been using DVDFab for as long as version 2.9 still don’t see or remember this option sorry

Will you please post a screen shot of the window where this option is given

sorry my mistake i meant verify. Sorry if that screwed you up. My bad.
sorry my mistake i meant . Sorry if that screwed you up. My bad.
Yes you screwed everybody up for starters verify has nothing to do with the finalizing the disc…verify…all it does is verify that the data was transfered to the disc,…also once a DVD-RW disc is finalized it is closed and can’t be re-used to write to again… sorry what is on the disc is there to stay
POOF I’m gone
