Interesting issue involving two older Creative DVD ROM drives. I do not have all released versions of FAB around the effecting versions, so I am testing with versions 220.127.116.11 and 18.104.22.168.. The effected drives are Creative 5X and 12X speed drives. DVDFAB will detect and analyze a DVD disc in these drives with ver 22.214.171.124 but will not with 126.96.36.199. Navigating to the VIDEO TS to start the process just brings up the send report screen on 188.8.131.52.
I have sent my observations to support and have not received a reply on this issue. To test, I moved these drives to other computers and the problem followed them. Newer drives (4 of them 1-3 years old) will work with versions 184.108.40.206 and up. I have both versions (220.127.116.11 and 18.104.22.168 installed on both effected computers which are identical with the exception of the ROMs) and starting the version 22.214.171.124 works without a hitch, while starting 126.96.36.199 produces the failure to scan/analyze the DVD. Beta's and Ver 188.8.131.52 also will not work on these drives.
I hate to scrap the Creative drives as they read at twice the rate of any of the new drives I have tried while testing on this problem.
Any idea's as to what may have changed between these versions that would cause a "failure to communicate" with DVD FAB. It is in the FAB as bringing up Explorer shows the title of the DVD and can open subfolders, but FAB will just show the DVD as a CD ROM and not even show the title sometimes. Again, going back to 184.108.40.206 and the issue goes away and FAB works as it should. BTW, no error codes are generated when this happens. I've tried everything that support had previously suggested without success, and now have not had a reply since I sent my observations about the drive issue being the problem. Any advice that may explain/fix the issue is welcome..
