Aside the Lite-on tools and abilities that are unimportant to you, Lite-on are actually very versatile and very good readers. They are less picky at scratches and skips, and are very tolerant drives. I remember reading somewhere that Plextor are best for audio recovery, but I do nto know how or if they have DVD rom drives, or how htey would compare. Toshiba for example are picky drives, and don't like anything wrong with media, I think Lite-on are actually great. And the unimportant abilities that are unimportant to you are just added perks to an already stealth solid drive.
Thats my opinion, hope it helped.
