In terms of encoding technology and error correction, is a DVD-ROM more like a DVD-R or a DVD+R?
Or entirely different?
i don’t think there is such thing as just a dvd-rom. Its either a dvd-r or a dvd+r etc…

I think he meant the read-only pressed DVDs, not the ones that you burn for yourself.
DVD-ROM is read only device. Can read DVD-R and DVD+R and other too for dual layer and rewrite disks.
Verbatim DVD-R seem most compatible for me
thanks Sub Zero. All dvd-roms had to start from somewhere… So that dvd-rom was either a dvd-r or a dvd+r I also agree that dvd-r is more compatible since that is what i use but i choose taiyo yuden. #1 but verbatim is prob a very close 2nd place.
