Need to replace my old DVD-Rom drive because it does not read multisessions. Don't want to add more wear to the writer since i just replaced LG with Lite-On IHAP422-98. Looking at Sony Optiarc DDU1678A-0B 18x DVDROM (can't find to many reviews on this unit)since my system uses IDE. Would it be better use this or second writer?. Thanks LarryC
Might as well get a writer. They aren't expensive anymore. There are still a few Lite-on models with the IDE interface that would work ok for you.
Thanks Kerry56!. I was going to get the Lite-On IHDP118-04 dvd-rom at Tigerdirect (best price),but they don.t have it now i was not sure of the Sony. The original Samsung SD-616 has a audio hookup would i also hook this to the writer?.Thanks LarryC
No, you don't need to hook up the audio cable. That has been obsolete for quite a while.
Thanks for all the help! :disagree:
