Dvd Rom and DVD burning will not work with Win 7 drivers

I have 2 dvds - dvd-rom BDV316E ATA and HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4160B ATA. When I installed Win 7 one year ago both worked fine on the windows drivers. Have just installed a new hard drive, now niether will work on the Win 7 drivers. Any suggestions please?. I believe both DVD readers are made by LG.

Look in my signature for the link that says Microsoft support for Optical drives. Click on it and use the Fix It tool at that site.

If that doesn’t help, try deleting the upper and lower filters: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/upperfilters-lowerfilters.htm

These seem to be IDE interface drives, so you can also check DMA for the burner. Click on the link in my signature for Womble’s guide for checking DMA. Instructions for Vista will work for Win 7. The most important thing to look for is Current Transfer Status…which should be Ultra DMA 2 or Ultra DMA 4.

The drivers for your optical drives are contained within Win7 operating system and do not need to be changed.
