DVD ripping speed limitation removed Toshiba SD-M1612 and SD-M1712

Look here: http://forum.firmware-flash.com/viewtopic.php?t=14120

I think a lot of people are waiting for this!

Anyone know if this can be similarly done on Toshiba SD-M1212 drives? Thanks

Gonna try this tonight on my M1612.

I’ll post info after i’ve done some tests.

//edit// I got only a M1612. The other one is a M1502 :frowning:

Is it possible to flash the 1612 Rev. A Bios 1004 with Bios J806 to make it read DVD+R, RPC-1…
or should I only Update 1004 to J004???
Anyone knows???

heinrichderfuchs you can use the j806 RevA for your drive without problem…

Worked great for me. Props to the firmware hackers.

So far so good , ripping a dvd at 5.8 speed instead of the usual 1.8 speed.

Hmm , 7.5 speed and rising

I tried by myself…

J804 ist working on 1612 Rev A with 1004

Just ripped a movie at average 7.5x speed
Great work by Hijacker and Neo!!!

Great job! This is finnaly a decent ripping speed

Ripped THREE dvd’s within half an hour… this is great stuff.

I hope they will also make such a firmware for the Toshiba M1502 (which is my other dvd player).

yes they will try to make it for the 1512 also

OMG having a burner (Plextor PX-W1210A) installed along with the Toshiba SD-M1712 caused the flash utility to loop some # infinitely. I even had the guts to interrupt that process several times as I removed my pci ata controller card, using different startup disks, and finally disconnecting the burner to get that flash utility to work properly. So glad my Toshiba is ok.

My first time flashing firmware I believe. Is it a given to only have one device on an ide cable to flash devices successfully?

It happens on ocasions. I have a Liteon Burner on the same IDE channel and the flash wen’t without a glitch…
