I have a set of BBC programs on DVD, which I purchased in Britain (Region Code 2). I would like to make usable copies to play on my American (Region Code 1) DVD player.
I own a copy of DVDFab and it appears to be making a “back up copy” of these DVDs. I place the original British DVD in my internal DVD player of my PC. I can view the program in the small window and DVDFab does not advise me of any problem or error.
When the copying is finished, however, and I take the newly made DVD to my DVD player at my television, I still get the error message regarding Region Code restrictions and it it won’t play. It’s as if DVDFab was able to bypass the RC restrictions to make a copy (and show a thumbnail of the video in its preview window), but does not strip away the region code on the copy?
Can anyone tell me what’s happening and how I can overcome this?
Thank you.
A R2 UK DVD is PAL video, not the NTSC video required for playback on R1 (USA) TVs. PCs are not sensitive to this, TVs are. You will need to either convert the PAL DVDs to NTSC with software (such as ConvertXtoDVD) or buy a DVD player that makes the conversion on the fly before sending it to your TV. The region coding was removed correctly I’m sure, but DVDFab does not make PAL->NTSC conversions.
