I just purchased a sony dvd r/w drive and it won’t work. this is related to my earlier post about shutting off my computer partway thru the read process. I took the drive back where I bought it as was told that any drive that was manufactured AFTER June 2005 will not work regardless of what software I use. Is this true? 
What a load of rubbish you’ve been told.
If that were the case then forums like this would be flooded with complaints & nobody would be buying any DVD burners.
My thoughts exactly! I’m on my way out the door to shove (well never mind) and I’m gonna buy a Liteon which my sister has and it works just fine! Thanks for your quick response
If it was anything but a Sony 810A, that was a Lite-On drive.
