I’m about to make the plunge into burning DVDs and just curious what type you guys prefer and why? I know one advantage of DVD+R media is that you cna booktype it to DVD-ROM, which actually sounds good to me. But on average, are DVD+R media as good or better than DVD-R? I’m looking to get something of quality, because I’m going to start archiving my home videos.

As far as +R media, is TY still considered one of the best?
how is this?
Taiyo Yuden 4.7GB Silver Thermal DVD+R in Cake Box(50)
$79.00

for -R I know I should try and stick with TY or Maxell (just from reading tons of posts).

Not at all. In fact +R is superior in a number of ways. TY make +R too.

Anything Made in Japan will be good (usually TY or MXL). RITEK for -R, RICOH for +R also works well in most recorders.

They’re made in Taiwan, your guess is as good as mine but Prodisc is a good guess.
