Price increase twice this year? Hmm I didn’t notice that LOL. I guess we are still buying whenever on sale at bestbuy, cc, costco, etc.

Really? I just bought a spindle of 100 TDK 16x DVD-R for $15 at Costco. Lucky me that I got it before the price went to the moon.

mmm… i usually see stores with at least a few packs of 25 or 50 dvds and never seen one that ran out of dvds, i live in mexico, will prices increase in there too?

is it really important to stock? IMO if price goes up only by 10% it wont hurt us…

btw, does anyone have an idea why would those makers withdrawn? i bet it was good business, or not?

and another question: with the arrive of bluray, isn’t dvds price destined to go down?

Yes, prices will likely increase globally. Ritek and CMC are 2 of the primary suppliers of DVDR media for the entire world. Stock up if you want to avoid a possible 10% price increase, if that doesn’t worry you, don’t worry about it. Many manufacturers withdrew from the market due to very slim profit margins, so the business was not profitable. DVD and Blu-ray are actually competing for space in many manufacturing facilities, so it is possilbe that it might actually make DVDR pricing rise somewhat.
