DVD+R on multiple recorders

I have an old Sony DVD player that I use to watch my backups. I burn with an NEC 3520A. I recently bought 100 Verbatim DVD+R 8x (MCC 003). I figured they would work fine since the Ritek DVD+R 4x (RITEK R03) I had been using burned well and played in my Sony player without a hitch. The Verbatims don’t play in my Sony whether the booktype is set to DVD-ROM or DVD+R. They play fine in my AOpen 1648 Pro and I haven’t tried them in any other stand alone players.

My question: is it possible for the Verbatims to work in my Sony stand alone if I burn them with another burner… like a Benq 1640, which I understand to be better at burning +R media? Thanks

Yes it is possible! The BenQ might burn them with better quality and then the SONY standalone might be able to read the discs better.

On the other hand, it is also possible that your SONY player just doesn’t like that MCC dye type and will have trouble recognizing/playing the discs no matter what writer burns them.

Time for you to experiment!
